Wood deck repair and Board Replacement Handyman services
Many Michigan homeowners have hot tubs that they either do not use or don’t work. We can tear out and dispose of your unwanted hot tub. We can also fill in the hole where it once sat in or on your deck. If you had a composite or Trex deck and had a sunken hot tub, we may have trouble matching up the material if it is discontinued. We are a residential licensed builder and also has handymen on staff to repair your deck. Like a handyman, no job is to small.

Wood rot is a serious issue for decks and outdoor structures, often caused by prolonged exposure to moisture and inadequate ventilation. Here are some key points about wood rot and how to address it:
Types of Wood Rot:
- Dry Rot: This type occurs when wood is damp and has low ventilation. It can spread quickly and damage structural integrity.
- Wet Rot: Typically found in areas that remain consistently moist. It tends to be less aggressive than dry rot but can still cause significant damage.
Signs of Wood Rot:
- Discoloration or dark spots on the wood.
- A spongy or crumbly texture when touched.
- Fungal growth or a musty smell.
- Visible cracks or splits in the wood.
For a new deck there are more steps involved:
1. A design needs to be created. This might be straightforward or complex, depending on your needs, preferences, and design criteria.
2. Usually we first start with a design concept and then revisions will follow based on your input.
3. Materials and finishes need to be selected. Composite or wood
4. Project needs to be quoted.
5. Once you sign off on the project, we have to obtain necessary permits. Generally, these are the following: zoning permit, Homeowners association approval, and building permit. This process can take up to a month of time in itself.
6. We can then order materials and begin construction.
7. Depending on the size of the project, construction time will vary. On average, expect one week for small to medium projects, two or more weeks for larger projects.
Given all these steps it’s best to plan early. Two months in advance or more would give you time to prepare without being rushed. Again, how early will also depend on the size and complexity of the project. It never hurts to plan earlier than you think. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
